Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Documentary Drama Lets Actors Discuss, Play Their Favorite Characters

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

TV Tokyo is partnering with Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) guidebook for a new documentary drama that will premiere in the network's Drama 25 timeslot in October. The series, titled Kono Manga ga Sugoi!, will air on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, and other affiliated channels.

Every episode of the program will feature different actors as guests. The actors will talk about manga they like and discuss their approaches to creating roles as the manga's characters. Then the show will use a "special method" for the actors to appear in the manga's panels in a live-action adaptation.

Actress Yū Aoi (live-action Tokyo Ghoul's Rize Kamishiro, live-action Rurouni Kenshin's Megumi Takani) is hosting the program. Tetsuaki Matsue (live-action Sono 'Okodawari,' Ore ni mo Kure yo!) is directing the series.

Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook reveals ranking lists of the top manga magazines and manga for male and female readers every December. The work also includes an introduction to a selection of manga, an interview and special illustrations from the top manga creator, and commentary from prominent figures in the industry.
