Rumiko Takahashi's lovable alien Lum Invader is the star of some excellent retro-style merchandise coming to Thank You Marts in Japan next month.
Collaborative goods include three kinds of pouches, two key holders, two can badge sets, and a compact mirror. Each item is dirt cheap at only 390 yen (US$3.50). The prices are Thank You Mart's selling point: the store's name is a pun on san-kyu (3-9, but sounds also like "thank you").
Lum, the Urusei Yatsura character who pioneered the "magical girlfriend" trope, is officially 40 years old. Takahashi's original manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1978 and inspired a long-running television anime series and multiple anime films.
