Japan's Cutest Bullet Train Will Accept Passengers This Summer

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Evangelion bullet train is wrapping up its tour, but soon a new, cute themed shinkansen will be riding the rails instead. Sanrio's Hello Kitty is taking the wheel aboard her very new, very pink bullet train this summer.

Like the Evangelion train, the Hello Kitty train will be operated by JR West as part of its 500 Series Shinkansen and run from Osaka's Shin-Osaka Station to Hakata Station in Fukuoka. The entire train will be wrapped in a pink and white exterior with an extra-large version of Hello Kitty's iconic bow.

The train's first two carriages will house special displays. The first is dedicated to tourism throughout western Japan and highlights the appeal of the area's different regions. These displays will rotate out, with the first highlighting Shimane and Tottori prefectures in the Sanin region. Later displays will focus on Osaka, Hyogo, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi and Fukuoka prefectures.

The second carriage is all about Hello Kitty's cute appeal. The exact specifics are still a surprise, so riders will have to wait until summer to see what Hello Kitty has in store.
