Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Soundtrack on Core Crystal-Shaped USB Drive Sells Out Instantly

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

A special, limited-edition version of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 soundtrack sold out before it even hit store shelves. The Switch game's sound producer Yasunori Mitsuda wrote about the different soundtrack versions on Monday. The three versions include the “Type-A” version of the soundtrack, which comes with a Core Crystal-shaped USB drive and is limited to only 2,000 copies.

Pre-orders opened on Amazon that day but immediately sold out.

The Type-A soundtrack includes the USB drive loaded with 126 tracks, 105 from the game, five piano arrangements, and 16 jingles. It also bundles a 120-page deluxe booklet discussing the game's music. All of this totals for 18,000 yen (US$167). The Type-B soundtrack has many of the same perks, minus the USB drive. Instead, the same tracks are included on six CDs and it includes six sheets of piano music, the 120-page booklet, and a message card. The Type-C soundtrack includes just the 105 music tracks and a 12-page booklet.

Monolith Soft's Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch game shipped on December 1. Nintendo describes the story:

Lost in a sea of clouds, entire civilizations rest on the backs of colossal beasts known as Titans. As the Titans march toward death, unlikely heroes arise: a young scavenger named Rex and a living weapon called Pyra. Can they find the fabled paradise of Elysium in time to save what's left of humanity?

Nintendo released the original Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii in Japan in 2010, Europe in 2011, and North America in 2012. Nintendo released Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for the New Nintendo 3DS in April 2015 in North America and Europe.
