Gengoroh Tagame Draws Alternate DVD Cover for Moonlight Film in Japan
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The Oscar-award winning film Moonlight received an alternate home video jacket cover by My Brother’s Husband manga creator Gengoroh Tagame for the Japanese release.
The 2016 film won Best Film at this year's Academy Awards Ceremony. The film follows Chiron, played Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders, and Trevante Rhodes at different ages in the character's life. Chiron grows up in a dysfunctional household in a rough neighborhood in Miami where he struggles with his sexual identity amid abuse and a drug-filled environment. Tagame's artwork shows the character at all three ages.
First edition pre-orders include Tagame's alternate cover above and two other alternate covers drawn by illustrators Mizumaru Kawahara and Megumi Gotō.
Tagame ended his My Brother’s Husband (Otōto no Otto) manga in Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine on May 25. Pantheon Books is releasing the manga in English in two-in-one omnibus volumes. The first volume was released on May 17.
