Hatsune Miku Learns to Sing in Chinese
posted on by Amanda Whalen
Virtual idol Hatsune Miku, who celebrated her 10th anniversary on August 31, has added a new language to her repertoire. Crypton Future Media released a download pack on September 7 that lets the iconic twin-tailed idol sing in Chinese. The new software is titled Hatsune Miku V4 Chinese and can be purchased from the Crypton download store Sonicwire for 10,800 yen (about US$100).
The Chinese pack has the same features as the currently available Japanese and English packs, but Miku's voice has been adjusted so that she can clearly pronounce Chinese consonants and vowels. Also included is a stand-alone copy of the Vocaloid voice editing application Piapro Studio.
Illustrator Mame no Moto, who previously created artwork for the Square Enix game Kai-ri Sei Million Arthur, drew the release's box art.
The official YouTube channel for Hatsune Miku is streaming several videos that preview the Vocaloid singing in Chinese.
Hatsune Miku is also getting a crossover classical Japanese art exhibit with Osamu Tezuka, a new PS4 game, and an appearance in the Idol Time PriPara video game later this year for her 10th anniversary.
