Win the "Ultimate Reading Chair System For One Piece"

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The world of One Piece doesn't exist in virtual reality yet, but Shōnen Jump has the next best immersive experience for series fans. The publisher opened a website for the "Onepi Isu" a pun on the series title and the world "isu" which means chair in Japanese. Its a smorgasbord of gadgetry all meant to enhance the One Piece reading experience.

The site claims the supposedly state-of-the-art chair can detect various manga scenes and activate its attached gadgets accordingly, creating a full-body reading experience.

The attached technology include a real-time page analysis camera, an embedded woofer that vibrates during battle scenes, speakers that emit the sound effects on the page, a fan to simulate wind blowing, dora and taiko drums to give that deep "don" and "dodon" sound effects, an azuki bean shaker to create wave noises, thunderballs for lightning strikes, a sakura blossom dropper for those nostalgic moments, a color-coordinated reading lamp, and a handkerchief ejector for those tear-jerkers.

The entire chair seems both ridiculous and too good to be true, but fans can enter to win it by mail or Twitter. On Twitter, fans must follow the @Eiichiro_Staff account, use the hashtag #ワンピいすプレゼント, and include an example of a scene they'd like to experience using the chair. Winners will be contacted via Direct Message. Applications must be submitted by October 31.

Winners will be awarded at Jump Festa 2018 in December.

The One Piece 20th anniversary includes "hijacking" the covers of 28 different Shueisha magazines, a collaborative event with the traditional city of Kyoto, the live-action Hollywood television series, and more.
