Bahamut Disco Takes Over Shibuya With Burlesque Techno Concert

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Final Fantasy summon Bahamut is giving up attacking foes in favor of a disco party at the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki on July 1 followed by its grand opening on July 15. But before he settles in, Square Enix is going to throw a disco party for the dragon and Shibuya on June 16 and 17.

The disco party is a virtual reality experience that takes place in a "450-degree" video space, no headsets required. The SHIBUYA109 department store will host the "'Space Fastest' Experience" event for two days and offer photo ops and special guests. On June 17, a special live performance will be held with the mysterious male musicians CTS and performers from Burlesque TOKYO. The groups will perform Vocaloid and anime themes, like Neon Genesis Evangelion's "Cruel Angel Thesis", Hatsune Miku's "Senbonzakura," and AKB48's "Heavy Rotation."

DJ KAORI will also be on site to keep the disco grooving.

The event will have a photo backdrop where dancers can snap a photo using the hashtag "#BAHA 体験" (#BAHA Experience) to get the event's official drink.

While Bahamut may be dancing in Shibuya, he'll be tearing through Yokohama this weekend as part of a projection mapping show promoting Final Fantasy XIV.
