posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The second half of the Saga!!! on Ice campaign wrapped up in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture on Sunday. The official Facebook page for the city revealed on Sunday that more than a total of 20,000 people from 27 countries visited the Yuri!!! on Ice setting city during the two-month promotion that began on March 6.
Due to the popularity and success of the campaign, the staff will continue to distribute the Yuri!!! on Ice pilgrimage maps that debuted during the promotion. The kiss and cry photo spot and Yuri!!! on Ice co-creator Mitsurou Kubo's signed illustration boards will continue to remain on display. Additionally, Saga!!! on Ice collaboration goods will continue to be available for purchase while supplies last.
Yūri's anime hometown of Hasetsu in the anime is based on the real-life city of Karatsu. The campaign, which sought to boost tourism in the city, offered local specialties, a Yuri!!! on Ice-themed food menu, and original goods.
The "Ice Castle Hasetsu" ice skating rink was also open at Tokyo's Meiji Jingu Gaien Skating Rink on March 6-12 as part of the promotional campaign. The rink let fans fulfill their dream of skating on the same rink as Yūri and featured special illustrations and a photo spot.
Karatsu's official website offers side-by-side comparison images of Hasetsu in the anime and Karatsu in the real world. Kubo traveled to Karatsu in January. Many fans have been traveling to Karatsu since the Yuri!!! on Ice television anime premiered in October.
Production of a brand-new Yuri!!! on Ice film has been green-lit.
