Hear Mamoru Miyano, Maaya Sakamoto Belt Out More Covers in Sing

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Voice actors Mamoru Miyano and Maaya Sakamoto are two of the stars of the Japanese dub of Illumination Entertainment's Sing. The film, which combines American Idol and talking animals, opened in Japan on Friday. Sakamoto plays Rosita, a housewife sow who selflessly gave up her idol dreams to raise 25 piglets. A previous clipped showed that Sakamoto has no issues covering the film's soundtrack in its original language.

A new clip shows that this is still true. Sakamoto does an English cover of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" alongside comedian Tsukasa Saitō of the duo Trendy Angel. The original is performed by Reese Witherspoon and Nick Kroll.

Miyano doesn't test out his English skills as the sheep Eddie (originally John C. Reilly), but he does also provide the singing voice for another character, the snail Ray that appears during the auditions in the film. In the original, the snail sings "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross. Miyano sings a Japanese cover of it.
