BanG Dream! Dōjin Event Only Recruits 9 Circles
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Although Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani touted his company's BanG Dream! multimedia project as the herald for a band boom, the franchise may not be doing as well as he had hoped. The "Minna de BANG Dreamer" dōjin event was accepting applications for up to 400 circles. However, the BanG Dream!-only event only managed to recruit nine circles to participate.
The event will be held at Tokyo's Ōta-ku Sangyō Plaza PiO on April 16. The circle registration period was slated to close on February 25, but the organizers extended the deadline past March 5. The organizers posted the list of participating circles on Friday.
A similar BanG Dream!-exclusive dōjin event titled "BANG Dreamer's Party" will be held at the same location on May 28. The event is still accepting circle applications.
Another ominous sign for the BanG Dream! project is its collaboration items lingering in convenience stores in Japan. Twitter user @kaztsu posted pictures of the abundance of BanG Dream! clear files still available at the Kanda Myōjin LAWSON store in Tokyo on Tuesday.

People who buy two of the collaboration cup noodles can receive one of five exclusive BanG Dream! clear files for free. The LAWSON employees from the shop pictured above apparently posted a note to increase interest in the files. The shop also has a large banner outside advertising the collaboration.
The BanG Dream! television anime premiered on January 21, and the BanDre! Girls Band Party! smartphone game is slated for mid-March.
