It is no secret that anime pilgrimages are a growing trend in Japan. Some fans might even go on pilgrimages to visit the shooting locations of live-action works based on manga or anime. Asmik Ace began streaming a 360-degree virtual-reality pilgrimage video for the live-action March comes in like a lion films on Tuesday.
Viewers can explore the setting of March comes in like a lion in the video. First, the video shows the Chūō-Ōhashi Bridge that connects the Rokugatsu and Sangatsu areas of Tokyo. Next, the video features Tokyo's Hatanomori Hachiman Shrine, where a god of shogi lives. The video also previews Tokyo's Shogi Kaikan hall and takes visitors into a special tatami room inside the building where Rei Kiriyama (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is waiting. Rei starts a game of shogi with the viewer.
The films based on Chika Umino's March comes in like a lion (Sangatsu no Lion) manga will open in Japan on March 18 and April 22, respectively.
The story of the March comes in like a lion manga follows a solitary shōgi player named Rei and his relationships with a neighboring family. He becomes acquainted with Akari, and two young girls, Hinata and Momo, who also have a large number of cats.
