Monster Hunter XX Game's Campaign Offers Real Beekeeper Suit, In-Game Items

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

CAPCOM is holding a sweet Twitter campaign in the lead-up to the release of its upcoming Monster Hunter XX (pronounced as "Double Cross") Nintendo 3DS game on March 18. The "318 Honey, Please Campaign" will offer increasing numbers of in-game rewards to players depending on how many times they tweet with the project's hashtag from February 23 to March 10. In addition to in-game rewards, Twitter users who participate in the campaign will have a chance to win a beekeeper suit to protect them while they collect real-world honey.

The campaign will offer only one complete protective suit to a honey-loving Twitter user. CAPCOM's official website warns that the beekeeping suit will not protect the wearer from Japanese giant hornets.

The in-game rewards will include one Honey for every 500 tweets and one Mega Dash Juice, Max Potion, Heavy Armor Sphere, or 10,000 Zenny coins for every 3,000 tweets. Because of the game's March 18 release, the campaign will offer a maximum of 318 Honey. The campaign will offer a maximum of 30 of the other items, including a maximum of 30,000 Zenny.

Campaign rewards will be distributed in the game on March 18. As of the posting of this article, participating Twitter users have tweeted more than 15,738 times to earn 31 Honey and five of the other items. The campaign garnered 9,000 tweets during its first two hours.

CAPCOM began streaming the third promotional video for Monster Hunter XX earlier this month. The game will feature a new "Style Power-up," which allows players to designate a Hunting Art as an "SP Art," granting benefits to the whole party on activation. The game will also include a new new Brave Style, a new field called "Igunrei" and a new "Ryūshikisen" base. The game will feature six main monsters (pictured in second image below), including: Gammoth, Astalos, Mizutsune, and Glavenus, and the new main monsters Balfarc (pictured in third image below) and a new Diablos variant.

People who have save data from Monster Hunter X (pronounced "Cross") can transfer their save data to Monster Hunter XX. Additionally, those who have save data from Monster Hunter Stories will also get a special bonus in Monster Hunter XX.

The game will retail for 5,800 yen (about US$55) for the package version, and 5,546 yen (US$53) for the download version.
