posted on by Eric Stimson
On March 22, the department store MATSUYA GINZA in Tokyo will put on an exhibition of the manga of Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail, Rave Master). The exhibition will include manga rough drafts, full-color illustrations, sketches, and planning documents and give visitors a sense of "the world of Hiro Mashima." Merchandise related to Mashima's works will also be on sale.
Mashima himself will attend the exhibition on April 2 at 1 PM to sign autographs for the guests; however, he will only accommodate 100 guests. Interested fans must apply here (note: the form has not been uploaded at press time) and also buy at least 1,500 yen ($13) worth of goods at the exhibition.
Tickets to the exhibition cost 1,000 yen ($8.75) and will go on sale on February 18 at Animate, PassMarket, Lawticke, 7-11, Shosen Book Tower, and Shosen Grande. The ticket comes with the above badge. Tickets can also be bought at the door for 800 yen ($7; less for students).
The exhibition marks the 20th anniversary of Mashima's debut in the manga industry and will run until April 3. It will be located on MATSUYA GINZA's eighth floor event space. Mashima recently designed a sword for the 3DS game Monster Hunter XX.
