Summon Fate/Grand Order Servants in Real Life With AR App
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
TYPE-MOON and FGO Project launched the free Fate/Grand Order AR app for iOS and Android devices on Wednesday. Users can visit certain areas of Japan to "summon" Servants through augmented-reality (AR) camera functionality.
The new app is related to TYPE-MOON's smartphone role-playing game Fate/Grand Order and "FGO Winter Festival 2016-2017: da Vinci-chan Code" project. People who use the AR app can visit specific locations in four prefectures to obtain Servant characters in the app and take special photos of them.
"FGO Winter Festival 2016-2017: da Vinci-chan Code" events will be held in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka on December 17; in Osaka, Osaka on December 25; in Nagoya, Aichi on January 21; and in Sapporo, Hokkaido on February 4. Players can obtain 23 Servants in each city area holding the events, with each location offering three exclusive Servants. People who collect all the Servants from each event location will receive a secret reward Servant from the in-game Chaldea Security Organization.
People who visit the winter events will receive a special pin while supplies last. The events will offer a lineup of exclusive merchandise including clear files, posters, blankets, and T-shirts. FGO Project creative director Yōsuke Shiokawa and six of the game's voice actors will appear at talk events at each location.
The Fate/Grand Order game has been downloaded over 7 million times since it launched on Android and iOS devices in summer 2015. The Fate/Grand Order: First Order- television special will premiere on December 31.
