Beijing Mall Holds Exhibit of Bad Life-Size Naruto, One Piece Characters

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Beijing's Viva Plaza mall recently set up a display of popular anime characters. Fans can touch and take pictures with the life-size figures, but some are saying the quality leaves something to be desired. Judge for yourself:

Naruto
Okay, that's not too bad.

Naruto
Wait, does the "B" stand for "Boruto?"

Sasuke
Is he holding... a blue tree?

Luffy
So, he does own another outfit.

Ace
It's time to go home, buddy. You've had a few too many.

A generic samurai??

Eren
But that looks more like Mikasa's face....

Robin
My, what a big forehead she has.

Although one commenter implied the statues could be the works of elementary schools students, it appears that the mall itself decided to make and display them. China's Naruto copyright holder Pierrot China responded to the display on Weibo, a Chinese-based social media platform similar to Twitter. The company said on October 21 that the exhibition had acquired no rights to display the Naruto figures and images.

Maybe the mall should put up a Phoenix Wright statue next. They might need an Ace Attorney.
