Amazon Offers "Manga Model" of Kindle E-Book Reader, But Only in Japan

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Amazon has released an e-book reader in Japan especially designed for manga fans. The "Manga Model" of the Kindle Paperwhite is an upgrade from the previous release, offering more storage space at 32GB and additional features. One feature is a "rapid page turn" that allows readers to flip through their digital manga 33 percent faster and a two-page display function so art can be displayed side-by-side.

Current Paperwhite devices offer just 4GB of storage, which is typically plenty unless your a rabid manga reader. Manga can also eat up space faster because the of its graphics-heavy nature.

Amazon Japan opened pre-orders this week for ¥16,280 (about US$157). State-side fans will have to cross their fingers that the device makes the jump over. For now, it's still a Japan exclusive.
