Kazuo Umezu, the creator of horror manga like The Drifting Classroom and Cat Eyed Boy, is getting a coloring book featuring his creepiest characters. The Umezu Kazuo no Kyōfu Nuri e book comes with bookmarks, message cards, and a pouch bag. The book also includes coloring tips from Umezu himself.
The book is slated for release on August 24. Retailers will also include a special postcard.
Aspiring artists can also use their finished drawings to enter a coloring contest to win goods signed by Umezu. My Name Is Shingo musical cast members Mitsuki Takahata and Mugi Kadowaki will participate in the contest as jury members. Submissions open on August 24 and last until October 28. Artists can submit their work via Twitter using the hashtag "#うめぬり" (Umenuri) or by e-mail or snail mail.
The "Space ONE" area on the sixth floor of the Shinjuku Marui Annex will host an exhibition of Umezu's work from August 27 to September 7 and at the Marui Kichijoji department store in Tokyo from October 1-23.
