Live-Action Sailor Moon Cast Performs at Daigo and Keiko Kitagawa's Wedding

Kitagawa played Sailor Mars in 2003 television series

Singer DAIGO (DAIGO Naitō) and actress Keiko Kitagawa held their wedding ceremony at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo on Friday. Among the guests were Kitagawa's costars from her debut acting role: Sailor Mars from the 2003 live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon television series.

Ayaka Komatsu (Sailor Venus), Miyū Sawai (Sailor Moon), Myuu Azama (Sailor Jupiter), and Rika Izumi (Sailor Mercury) took to the stage to say, "In the name of the moon, we will congratulate you!" They then performed the series' second ending theme song "Friend."

Part way through, Kitagawa herself joined in. "I haven't sung it in 13 years," she commented afterwards, "but surprisingly I could still sing it [without any mistakes]. I was going along with everyone else, so I could feel it, and that makes me happy. Thank you so much!"

DAIGO was delighted to hear the performance. "Since my wife is an actress, it's not every day I get to hear her sing, so it made me happy," he said.

DAIGO and Kitagawa met during a drama they appeared in together in 2011, and Japanese newspaper Sports Hochi reported this past October that they were engaged. The pair announced in January that they had entered their names into a family registry, effectively getting married.
