The racers in Fast and Furious would be proud of these little drifters.
The Takara Tomy toy company is getting ready to sell new RC cars in the Drift Package Nano series. Each car is approximately 1/42-scale to its real-life counterpart. The key feature behind these new cars is their unique drifting functionality. By shifting a wheel on the remote control, the car will be able to drift into some tight and sharp turns at the user's will.
The video above shows off the various techniques that one can master while using the car's drift. It also showcases some of the toy's functionality, such as the controller doubling as a charger for the car's battery.
The car will come in four different models: the Nissan 180SX in blue, the Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) in yellow, the Nissan Silvia (S13) in black and the Nissan Fairlady Z (known as the Nissan 350Z) NISMO in red. These cars will ship in late October and cost 6,264 yen (US$52).
While not officially announced as a new car, Takara Tomy previously released an Initial D drifting model as part of its larger AERO RC Drift Package Light line in 2009.
