Revolutionary Girl Utena Inspires Brooches

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

Despite its long lasting place in the hearts of fans, Revolutionary Girl Utena hasn't gotten the same kind of merchandise attention as Sailor Moon, Digimon, Evangelion, or Card Captor Sakura. The show is approaching its 20th anniversary but there isn't much in the way of tie-in goods outside of its Blu-ray release in Japan for its 15th anniversary in 2012 to 2013 and some fashion accessories.

That trend hasn't changed, but the latest accessory heading to arcades is eye-catching. Two brooches featuring the rose motif from Utena's ring and seen through out the series is surrounded by filigree with a long chain emulating a prince's epaulettes.

The brooch is now available at Adores shops in Chiyoda, Shibuya, Nakano, and Toshima. The brooch is the third arcade prize after previously released Utena-themed compact mirrors and locket charms.
