Love Live! Film Strip of Nico Sells for Over US$5,500

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Love Live! The School Idol Movie has brought in tons of cash since it debuted in Japan on June 13. Box office totals are at 1.65 billion yen (about US$13.4 million) and over one million tickets sold. Three of its CD singles ranked in the top 10 of on Oricon's singles chart in the same week.

Moviegoers in Japan also received film strips rewards, a fairly common gift for anime films patrons. Equally common is especially nice ones going up on re-sell sites to profit off the current craze. One film strip with Nico Yazawa reaching her hands out attracted 435 bids before selling for 701,000 yen (US$5,660) on Sunday. According to an earlier screencap, a winning bid of 913,000 (US$7,372) was placed for the strip but it's no longer listed.

Other auctions showing all the girls faces (200,000 yen), Maki leaning in for a kiss in a car (225,422 yen), and a dance sequence featuring Nico (120,000 yen) are ongoing.

Meanwhile, other fans weren't as lucky with their film strips. Some received cuts of helicopters, a bed, the sky, and signs.

Similar anime film strip rewards were auctioned in the past. A Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion- title screen film strip sold for USW$41,000. A Yahoo! Auction for a film strip from the first Madoka Magica film drew a winning bid of 1,080,001 yen (about US$13,600). A theater chain worker held unauthorized auctions of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the Movie 2nd A's' strips intended for audience members in 2012. A film strip auction for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya ended with a 356,000-yen (US$3,990) bid, and a strip from the Macross Frontier: Itsuwari no Utahime film sold for 174,000 yen (US$2,130) in 2010.
