AKB48 Members Take on the Bright Lights of New York City

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

While idol hopefuls were waiting in anticipation at the AKB48 Group Draft Kaigi 2015 event, several members of the AKB48 were in New York City for the annual Japan Day event in New York City's Central Park on May 10.

In addition to their scheduled performance that day, AKB48 also got to hit the town and try American hamburgers, ride The Beast Speedboat ride out to the Statue of Liberty, peruse gift shops, and ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

Members of New York showed their support for Japan Day by dancing along to the idol group's "Koi Suru Fortune Cookie" ("Fortune Cookie in Love") track. The video features staff from the consulate, Toshiba New York, business professionals, JET alumni, and New York locals alike.

Plenty of "staff" dancing videos featuring employees from other companies, like the Samantha Thavasa fashion company, the folks from the AKB48 Video Center, Japanet Takata, Cyber Agent Group, Take and Give Needs, the Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, Hikari TV, GMO Internet, the Japan Travel transportation company, and tons of others were inspired by the song.
