Sega, PlayAsia Raise Funds for Victims of Nepal Quake

posted on by Eric Stimson
Item sales to go to Red Cross emergency relief

To raise funds for emergency relief after the magnitude 7.9 earthquake that struck central Nepal on April 25, Sega Games will donate all of the profits from sales of the Cosmo Atomizer in the online RPG Phantasy Star Online 2 to the Japan Red Cross. Appropriately enough, the Cosmo Atomizer heals your party, restoring it fully to its original condition. The donation period will last until May 31.

Sega will also donate its profits from sales of the Magic Guiding Stone (Madōseki) from Puyo Puyo Quest, the Spirit Stone (Seireiseki) from Chain Chronicle, and the Saintly King Stone (Seiōseki) from Hortensia Saga. The donation period will only last until May 3. Sega will donate 2 million yen (or $17,000) in addition to whatever is raised in this campaign.

In addition, Play-Asia.com, an Asian popular culture website, will donate $1 from every order made until May 10 to the Hong Kong Red Cross.

Japan, no stranger to natural disasters, has organized emergency relief fundraisers before, especially for the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Tōhoku.
