Kamen Rider Solid Gold Statues Come in Expensive and Very Expensive

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Kamen Rider #1, the Kamen Rider that started it all 40 years ago, is being immortalized in solid gold. The figure comes in a large version measuring 200mm (about 8 inches) and weighing 100g (about 1/4 a lb). The smaller one is half the height at 100mm (about 4 inches) and weighs 35g (about 1 1/4 ounces). Tokuriki Honten, a company specializing in gold for almost 300 years is casting the figures.

While the figures are small, the price tags most certainly are not. The large figure costs 5.55 million yen (US$46,672) while the smaller figure costs 770,000 yen (US$6,475). Each one comes with a special display case. Both figures go on sale on April 24 after being officially unveiled that day and Tokuriki Honten will accept orders until December 31 in department stores throughout Japan.

High-priced, solid gold figures are usually one-of-a-kind items, like jeweler Ginza Tanaka's Godzilla statue worth US$1,474,782 and a Saint Seiya figure worth US$600,000.
