Snow Miku 2016 Design Contest Now Open

The next opportunity for aspiring Hatsune Miku designers is now open to submissions. Good Smile Company and Piapro's yearly Snow Miku design contest is now open. This year's contest adds an extra design element -- Miku's pet rabbit Yukine. The virtual idol's companion is returning for the 2016 theme "Enjoying Hokkaido Winter Sports."
All designs must include a knitted cap to go along with the theme and Miku and Yukine's designs should be submitted separately. Some popular sports in Hokkaido include ice hockey (Nippon Paper Cranes, Oji Eagles), skiing, and snowboarding.
All entries need to use the Hatsune Miku design template and need to include the tag "2016年雪ミク衣装" while Yukine's need the tag "2016年ユキネ衣装". Make sure your tags are locked before turning them in. You can submit Miku's designs here and Yukine's designs here.
The deadline is May 11 at 5:00 p.m. JST. You can watch Piapro's website to see submissions as they're turned in.
Last year's winner was Taran's Hatsune Miku design and Lily of the Valley Yukine by Hayuki.
Last year's theme was "Plants of Winter in Hokkaido." The costume was turned into a Nendoroid and other related goods. The biggest winner might be Hokkaido though. Snow Miku-related goods, services and events bring the island over 100 million yen (about US$839,433) in revenue, with about 40 different companies participating in the promotion.
