Three Tiger & Bunny Coworkers Reunite for Live-Action Film

Screenwriter, voice actress, and character designer find new roles

At a preview screening on October 6 for the upcoming Japanese live-action film Oh Brother, Oh Sister! (known as Onodera-no Otouto, Onodera-no Ane in Japanese), three members of the Tiger & Bunny crew reunited: screenwriter Masafumi Nishida, voice actress Minako Kotobuki (Karina/Blue Rose), and original character designer Masakazu Katsura. This time around, Nishida is in the director's chair, while Kotobuki plays the character Asako. As for Katsura, he will have a brief cameo. "I wanted a part, even a little one, for old times' sake," Katsura explained. His part is so minor, the rest of the cast don't know which scene he's in. "Even I don't really know," he said. "My dream was to appear on the film's margins, so I'm starring in the role I most wanted."

The three know each other well from their Tiger & Bunny experience as well as from subsequent interactions — Nishida moved near to Katsura, and both of them go to watch Kotobuki's performances. Katsura was very impressed with Nishida's work, his first as a director. "The quality is so high, I can't believe it's his first time — it has the level of completion of a person who's made many movies before. He's like a genius." "I thought the movie would be this warm," Kotobuki said. Nishida was very flattered by their compliments and was glad he invited them to the preview.

Oh Brother, Oh Sister! tells the story of a brother and a sister who have grown up together since they were orphaned at an early age. Now adults, they must grapple with two possible love interests with the potential to disrupt their lifestyles. It will premiere on October 25 at Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater.
