Tanuki Abound in Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun Cafe

Customers will receive character image portraits as thanks for patronage.

Patisserie Swallowtail is known for their occasional collaborations in which they create impressive looking confections based off of popular anime series. While one might expect them to work together with the production and licensing team of each respective show, it seems like for their latest Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun collaboration, they must be working under the direct supervision of Romance's Maeno. After all, how else could you explain the sudden tanuki invasion that the patisserie seems to be facing.

Possible rodent infestation accusations aside, this month Patisserie Swallowtail, the Akihabara branch of K-BOOKS, and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun will be serving up some delicious and visually pleasing treats for lovers of the series and sweets for sale in their shop. Customers will be able to choose between one of three different items.

First, because Tanuki just go so well anywhere, is the Maeno inspired "Tanuki Cake." This cake, which is as cute as it is delicious, is covered in a milk chocolate cream, while the inside utilizes two different mixed berry flavors to create a perfect sense of culinary harmony. One of these cakes will only cost 680 yen (about US $6.35), and is just the perfect size for dessert.

Next, for those who have a bit of a smaller appetite, but still want to take part in the collaborative fun, Patisserie Swallowtail is baking up some delicious Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun character cookies. Each pack of cookies contains two crisp cookies featuring Chiyo and Nozaki printed on one and Mikoshiba and Hori on the other. A bag of these two cookies will cost 450 yen (about US $4.20).

Finally, perhaps the most beautiful of the three items is the official Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun parfait. This ice cream and fruit parfait comes with two cookies in the shape of scale rulers, keeping the ever artistic intentions of Nozaki in mind. The real eye catcher of the item is red dyed chocolate triangles meant to represent Chiyo's iconic red ribbon. This delicious homage to the hear of the series can be enjoyed by customers for a sweet 800 yen (about US $7.46).

As thanks for purchasing any one of the Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun items available at Patisserie Swallowtail, customers will receive one of five character glossy portrait sheets, which feature images of Nozaki, Chiyo, Mikoshiba, Hori, or Kashima straight from the opening of the show.

The collaboration started on September 6 and will be running up until September 25. Patisserie Swallowtail is open between the hours of 11:00 am and 9:00 pm, and is located on the sixth floor of Shinjuku's Marui Annex.
