RiffTrax Comedy Crew Spoofs 90s Godzilla in Theaters
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
As part of their RiffTrax comedy commentary project, Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame will stream a comedy commentary of the 1998 Godzilla film in theaters nationwide on August 14 and August 19. The trio successfully funded the venture via Kickstarter last month and raised US$265,011 to acquire the rights for the film. The campaign also reached its stretch goal to add the 1997 Anaconda film. That screening is slated for October 30.
Fathom Events will live stream the two-hour RiffTrax event in 650 theaters nationwide. RiffTrax successfully funded another movie screening event through Kickstarter last year: Twilight, but had to substitute the Starship Troopers film went the initial deal fell through.
