2014 Sanrio Battle Royale To Begin May 10

The start date for this year's Sanrio Character Ranking has been set for May 10. Fans can vote for their favorite Sanrio characters, pitting them against each other in a no-holds-barred, last-man/animal/food item-standing contest to determine superiority.
Last year's winner, after tallying 1,767,503 votes, was Hello Kitty, with My Melody and Pompompurin taking second and third, respectively. Places four through ten were: Little Twin Stars, Cinnamoroll, Turfy, Jewelpet, Fukuchan, Go Chan, and Kuromi. You can check out the full ranking list here for 1-100.
This year's event once again features 100 contestants, with the group stage diving all entrants into five groups. The top four in each group will advance to the next round. Voting for the group stage will begin May 10 and run until June 15. After the votes are tallied, the final stage will take place between July 8 and July 21; winners will be announced August 2.
While perennial favorites like Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and others are coming in with a distinct advantage, this year includes some dark horses like the sentient salmon fillet Kirimi, and the despair-ridden, broken egg Gudetama.
