Kamen Rider's Evil Organization Restarts Shocker Project
posted on by Eric Stimson
Yeee! Shocker, the nebulous and nefarious organization from the classic tokusatsu series Kamen Rider, is back! A mysterious 16-second video has surfaced promising a restart of the Shocker Project, with further details to come on May 1.
The Shocker Project was first launched last year with the aim of world domination. Although its goons in black haven't achieved that yet, they have held several events, like tours of its secret bases in Tokyo and Wakayama for families and a "club night" in Tokyo for party-loving youth. While Shocker claims to be a top-secret group, it needs to recruit members, and last year it held an event to test prospective evil minions. To join, one must demonstrate knowledge (by answering questions on the fundamentals of Shocker), good eyesight (by reading an eye chart), reflexes (by stopping a watch within half a second of 11.11 seconds), "blood power" (by passing a blood pressure exam), a strong grip, concentration (by keeping track of a card as it's shuffled), loyalty (by striking Shocker's Fascist pose and shouting "Yeee!"), luck (by pulling the right ball out of a box), and decisiveness (by choosing what kind of minion to be).
Of course, judging by Shocker's photo gallery, henchmen spend more of their time eating monjayaki, sightseeing, and politely getting permission from the authorities than fighting Kamen Rider.
