Patlabor Helps Meet Japan's Need For New Police Officers

Posters featuring Patlabor's AV-98 tries to gather recruits for the National Police Agency.

The National Police Agency has teamed up with the producers of the new Mobile Police Patlabor live action series THE NEW GENERATION: Patlabor, for their latest recruitment campaign. To meet the need for new recruits to the police force, they have decided to print a number of new recruitment posters featuring Patlabor's AV-98 "Ingram." The iconic mobile police unit will sport a new arm-shield that bears the name of regional police departments.

It was announced last year that the Tohokushinsha Film Corporation would be producing this new live-action series, based off of the classic manga and anime franchise, Mobile Police Patlabor. Earlier this month, a mini prequel episode premiered on Japan's Star Channel. A trailer for the series's first episode has been posted on the series's official YouTube channel.

The series will begin later this year, starting with a special screening of the first episode at the Shinjuku Piccadilly Theater starting April 5. Once the seven part series has finished screening, it will be followed by a feature length film in 2015. For more information on the upcoming series, check out our some of our previous articles.
