Japanese crowd-funding service gives artists the opportunity to turn their illustrations into figures.
A new crowd-funding service gives artists a unique chance to get their 2D illustrations turned into 3D figurines. Japanese company Okuyuki allows artists to upload sketches of their characters. Then, if enough people are interested in owning a 3D figurine of that character, the company will have a professional artist create the 3D model, print and paint the figures, and ship the finished product to supporters. The original artist will receive 10% of the sales, as well as one of the figures.
At present, there are 27 proposed projects available for perusal, with the most successful thus far at 35%.
