DJ Hello Kitty and Ayumi Hamasaki United at Last!

posted on by Bamboo Dong
Ayumi Hamasaki to release her first physical single in three years, with the collaborative efforts of DJ Hello Kitty and m-flo.

Ayumi Hamasaki is back, and she's bringing DJ Hello Kitty with her. Hamasaki's new single, Feel the Love / Merry Go Round is her first physical single in three years, since the release of her Love Songs album in September 2010 (her 2012 album, Party Queen yielded a digital single). The single features two songs, both A-sides.

And, if that's not enough to celebrate, "Feel the Love" is also the first song produced by DJ Hello Kitty, an Avex artist whose previous albums were solely compromised of remixes (including a remix of Ayumi Hamasaki's "Step You"). (If you want to see DJ Hello Kitty in action, there are plenty of user-uploaded YouTube videos of her dropping her feline beats, including this live DJ set and this live set with SMAP.)

"Feel the Love" was written by composer and performer Tetsuya Komuro, whose credits include the soundtrack for the Vampire Hunter D anime, the Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, Hamasaki's Love Songs album, and others.

The other song on her single, "Merry Go Round," is produced by m-flo, featuring the efforts of both DJ Taku Takahashi and emcee Verbal.

The single will be released on December 25. The accompanying DVD also includes two music videos shot in Los Angeles.

So far, a short pre-release version of "Feel the Love" is available on the official Ayumi Hamasaki Youtube channel.
