PETA Releases 2nd Pokemon Game Parody

Pokémon: Red, White, and Blue combines Pokémon, McDonald's food

The animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has released a second Pokémon parody game two days before the release of Pokémon X & Y. The group's latest flash game looks to expose what they perceive as Pokémon's and fast-food conglomerate McDonald's message of animal abuse. The site declares: "For generations, humans have loved Pokémon, but if Pokémon came to our world and saw how we treated animals, would they love us back? Be a hero for real-life animals by pledging to try vegan."

(Note: the game contains cartoon violence and links to real videos of animals being slaughtered)

PETA created its first Pokémon parody game last year the same week that Pokémon: Black & White 2 launched.

In November 2011, PETA launched a "Mario Kills Tanooki" campaign. PETA asserted at that time that "in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it's OK to wear fur." The group also launched a Flash-based Super Tanooki 2D Skin game. PETA later said that the campaign was "tongue-in-cheek" after Nintendo responded to the campaign.
