Play Karuta with Puella Magi Madoka Magica Hyakunin Isshu Cards

Premium Bandai is accepting pre-orders for Puella Magi Madoka Magica hyakunin isshu decks.

The set contains one hundred cards, an instruction manual, and an index, all packaged inside a special luxury box. The cards themselves are 63 mm x 88 mm (2.5" x 3.5").

The set retails for 7,980 yen (~ $80.65) and is expected to ship in January 2014. Pre-orders will be accepted until November 21.

Edit: The Madoka Magica cards are presented in the style of traditional hyakunin isshu karuta cards, but instead of poems, are replaced with quotes from the series.

Typically, the hyakunin isshu is a classical Japanese anthology of one hundred Japanese waka. Printed on cards, they are used as the basis for the game of karuta, which has become more popular in recent years due to the manga and anime series Chihayafuru, which features characters who play competitive karuta.
