Larger Than Life Hatsune Miku Performs At Yokohama Arena
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Hatsune Miku was bigger than ever at her "Magical Mirai 2013" event at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa on August 30.
The latest event dubbed itself as a user participation culture fest all about virtual idol Hatsune Miku. The event included live concerts, art galleries, workshops, exclusive products, and company-collaboration booths. The event's theme was "Serious Live Concerts: The Past and Future Culture of Hatsune Miku."
Two concerts were held over the course of the event. A daytime performance and a nighttime performance to celebrate the idol's sixth birthday on the following day. The daytime turnout was about 3,900 attendees but the huge audience came that night with a record-high attendance of 10,000 audience members. Each wielded a green glowstick to support Hatsune Miku.
Miku sang and danced to her songs "Shinkai Shojo," "Tell Your World," "Cat Food," and "ODDS&ENDS." The tracks composers included livetune and supercell's ryo. The stylish idol changed her costumes depending on which of the songs were performed. Also out to celebrate Miku's birthday were virtual idols Kagamine Rin and Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and Kaito. The idols performed "Suki Kirai," "Leia," and more.
Fans called for an encore, prompting the idol to return and perform "Yumeyume," the theme song for Hatsune Miku & Future Stars Project Mirai 3DS game.
