New Super Luigi U Game's Trailer Streamed
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
A trailer for the New Super Luigi U game for the Wii U console began streaming on Friday. Nintendo confirmed the game as downloadable content for the New Super Mario Brothers Wii U game in February, and the trailer reveals that a packaged version is scheduled for release this summer.
New Super Luigi U features 82 courses designed for the character Luigi. Mario does not appear in the game as a playable character, and all courses start with 100 seconds to complete them. Playable characters are Luigi, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, and Nabbit, introduced in New Super Mario Brothers Wii U. Nabbit cannot use power-ups and is immune to enemy attacks.
Players who already own the New Super Mario Brothers Wii U game will be able to download New Super Luigi U from Nintendo's eShop for 2,100 yen (about US$21) beginning on June 16. The game's packaged version will ship in Japan on July 13 for 3,885 yen (about US$39).
As another part of the 30th anniversary of Luigi's debut in the first Super Mario Bros. game, Nintendo also revealed in April that the Luigi 30th Anniversary Pack will be released in Japan on July 18. The pack includes a Luigi 3DS XL (known as the 3DS LL in Japan) model, SD card, and a copy of Mario & Luigi RPG 4: Dream Adventure (Mario & Luigi: Dream Team).
