posted on by Sarah Nelkin
The official website for the anime adaptation of Kuroha's Kitakubu Katsudō Kiroku manga revealed the cast for the anime on Thursday:
- Ibuki Kido as Natsuki Andō
- Mitsuki Yūna as Karin Tōno
- Miharu Kobayashi as Sakura Dōmyōji
- Ayaka Senbongi as Claire Kokonoe
- Sae Aiuchi as Botan Ōhagi
- Mao Ichimichi as Azarashi
"Kitakubu" (literally, "go-home club") is Japanese slang for kids who go home instead of joining clubs, sports, or other afterschool activities. In one high school, there is a real "Kitakubu" of girls who do whatever they like. The president is a free spirit named Sakura, while Botan is the combative heir to a school of ancient martial arts. Claire happens to be the daughter of the head of the powerful Kokonoe conglomerate. Natsuki joins the club at the invitation of another freshman, Karin, but she is unprepared for the hijinks there.
Hikaru Sato (episode director for Aria the Scarlet Ammo, Polar Bear's Café) will be directing the anime at animation production studio Nomad from scripts by Go Zappa (Myself; Yourself, NAKAIMO) . Takahiro Sasaki (animation director for Infinite Stratos, episodes of Nisemonogatari) will be handling both the character designs and animation direction. In addition, Japanese idol group Otome Shintō will be performing the anime's opening theme song.
Kuroha launched the manga on Gangan Online in August of 2011, and Square Enix will publish the third compiled volume on June 22.
The Kitakubu Katsudō Kiroku anime will premiere in July.
