Hatsune Miku & Domino's Pizza Japan President Join Forces on New App (Updated)
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The Domino's Pizza chain and virtual idol Hatsune Miku have joined forces on a new campaign, headlined by a Hatsune Miku x Domino's iOS app. In the campaign video, Domino's Japan President Scott Oellkers details (in English) how Domino's staff created songs for the app and its camera features.
Domino's staff designed the songs and Miku's appearance for the application. Original songs include "Fushigi Sekai," "SOON!", "Yum-Yum Pizza!", and "Saikō Driver M."
The app allows users to order pizza, take pictures with Hatsune Miku, and transform their pizza box into a digital stage. Domino's will deliver pizza in Hatsune Miku boxes through May 12 to users who order through the app.
Other crossover merchandise includes a motorized delivery bike and this month's Blu-ray Disc release of the "Angel Project Presents Hatsune Appearance" concert. (The app and the bike both use the Hatsune Miku 3D models that modeler "MaMaMa" created for the concert.)
Update: The app is also available outside of Japan for free, although the app itself is still in Japanese, and users can only use the app to place an order for delivery service areas within Japan.
