Btooom Manga's BIM Bombs Recreated … as Cakes

Cakes of Himiko, Ryota Sakamoto's BIMs commemorate release of 10th manga volume

The Akihabara Shinkan branch of the K-BOOKS retailer is selling promotional cakes to celebrate the release of volume 10 of Junya Inoue's Btooom! manga on Wednesday.

The cakes are made to replicate BIMs, the bombs used by characters in the Btooom! series. K-BOOKS will sell two kinds of cakes emulating main characters Himiko and Ryota Sakamoto's bombs. The sweets sell for 680 yen (about US$7.75) and include one of two coasters featuring images of Himiko (pictured below left). The sale will last for six days, from January 9-14.

K-BOOKS, along with the Akihabara locations of the Comic Toranoana, Melon Books, Comic Zin, and Animate retailers, are also selling a limited supply of the Gravity Angel Himiko artbook, which was previously available at Comic Market (Comiket) 83, for 2,000 yen (US$23).

Inoue's survival action manga was recently adapted into a 12-episode anime series by MADHOUSE and streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan. The series' last episode debuted on December 20 and Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for release in North America in September. Yen Press licensed the manga in North America and the first volume will ship on February 26.
