New Steins;Gate Game to Bundle Mobile Phone Replica
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Game developer 5pb. revealed that the Steins;Gate Senkei Kōsoku no Phenogram (Steins;Gate: Linear Bounded Phenogram) video game will not only ship for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 25, but limited editions of the video game will include a replica of Rintarō Okabe's mobile phone. The "Mobile Phone Replica Rintarō Okabe Model SG001" will not work as an actual phone or send data, but will instead contain recordings of some of the characters' voices: Okabe (Mamoru Miyano), Kurisu (Asami Imai), Mayuri (Kana Hanazawa), and Daru (Tomokazu Seki).
More screenshots from the game were also revealed.
The story of the game will not be told just from Rintarō Okabe's point of view, but from each of the Labomen's point of view. The title is an apparent reference to "linear bounded automaton," a limited form of the Turing Machine concept in computer science.
Naotaka Hayashi is returning as the scenario writer and chief supervisor. Other writers include Teru Arai, Kōtarō Uchikoshi, Shōgo Sakamoto, Vio Shimokura, Masashi Kigasawa, Kōgetsu Mikazuki, Kiyomune Miwa, Tōru Yasumoto, and Masahiro Yokotani. 5pb. head Chiyomaru Shikura is credited with planning and the original story, and Tatsuya Matsubara is serving as the producer.
5pb. and Nitroplus released the original Steins;Gate game on the Xbox 360 in 2009 as its second "scientific adventure" series title (after Chaos;HEAd and before Robotics;Notes). The game spawned a 2011 television anime series that in turn, is inspiring the Steins;Gate Fuka Ryōiki no Déjà vu film this spring.
