Merry Christmas — Anime Style (Part VI)

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Instead of with family, couples in Japan celebrate Christmas together as one of their most important nights of the year, right alongside Valentine's Day. Here are some of the ways that anime/manga/game fans and professionals have been celebrating Christmas this year:

(Click on the thumbnail images to see the original!)

Kazuhiko Inoue (Naruto's Kakashi, Natsume's Book of Friends Nyanko-sensei)

Inoue's accompanying Twitter post with the image says "Merry Christmas! Chu!" The image itself also says "meri kuri," a shorthand way of saying Merry Christmas.
Thanks to glitteringloke for the news tip.

Kamisama Kiss/Kamisama Hajimemashita

The official website for the television anime series posted three Christmas version wallpapers to celebrate the holiday, the ending of the show, and the series' official Twitter account achieving 10,000 followers. The Christmas versions of the three available wallpapers each feature a fox wearing a Santa hat.

Kenji Kamiyama (Director, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, 009 Re:Cyborg)

Kamiyama's accompanying Twitter post with the image says "I tried drawing something." The image itself says "meri kuri," a shorthand way of saying Merry Christmas.

Manga Entertainment UK

Keinojou Mizutama (Original Character Designer, MAOYU)

There are many more anime/manga Christmas greetings and messages out there, so if you know of one we've missed, feel free to let us know in our forums or by email (newsroom at animenewsnetwork.com). Here was last year's roundup. Merry Christmas!
