Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's Alpha Crafting Video Streamed
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Square Enix began streaming a five-and-a-half-minute gameplay video on Wednesday for the alpha version of its updated massive multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The video introduces gathering and crafting professions to players. In the video, the character Jadeite Thicke uses skills to locate flora and harvest useful supplies before crafting a new weapon in town. Previous videos previewed The Black Shroud and Gridania game areas and combat and questing gameplay.
Square Enix announced in September that alpha testing will begin this winter, and Square Enix is still recruiting testers on Windows PCs.
The current incarnation of Final Fantasy XIV went offline on November 11 with plans to migrate players over to the new game. Producer Naoki Yoshida had revealed at Germany's GamesCom event in August that the game will undergo server-load tests this fall. Square Enix then revealed in the "Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live Part IV" web program earlier this month that the beta test will run from late January to early February.
