Digimon Adventure PSP Game's 4-Minute Promo Streamed (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
Namco Bandai Games and Shueisha's V Jump magazine began streaming a 3-minute, 47-second promotional video for the Digimon Adventure PSP video game on Tuesday. The video features dialogue, cut scenes, and battle footage, as well as the anime's original opening theme song "Butter-fly" by Kōji Wada.
The "dramatic RPG" recreates the adventures of Taichi (Tai in the English dub), his Agumon partner, and others. The game will not only depict every episode from the 1999 television anime series, but also the 2000 film Digimon Adventure: Bokura no War Game from director Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children) and some original game events. Clearing the main game will reveal a special event where the main characters of various Digimon series meet with mysterious Digimon.
Toshiko Fujita (Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken's Dai, Chihayafuru's Taeko) is once again playing Taichi Yagami (Tai in the English dub), and Chika Sakamoto (Fushigi Yugi's Nuriko, Heartcatch Precure!'s Kaoruko) also returns as Agumon. Other familiar characters include Piyomon/Biyomon (Katori Shigematsu), Sora Takenouchi (Yūko Mizutani), Yamato Ishida/Matt (Yūto Kazama), Gabumon (Mayumi Yamaguchi), Tentomon (Takahiro Sakurai), Koushiro Izumi/Izzy (Umi Tenjin), Joe Kido (Masami Kikuchi), Gomamon (Junko Takeuchi), Palmon (Kinoko Yamada), Mimi Tachikawa (Ai Maeda), Takeru Takaishi/T.K. (Megumi Han), Patamon (Miwa Matsumoto), Hikari Yagami/Kari Kamiya (Kae Araki), and Tailmon/Gatamon (Yuka Tokumitsu).
The voices of Myotismon (Ryûzaburô Ôtomo), Wizardmon (Akira Ishida), Etemon (Yasunori Masutani), Puppetmon (Etsuko Kozakura), and Piedmon (Chikao Ohtsuka) are all reprising their roles, along with the narrator, Hiroaki Hirata. Hiroyuki Kakudō is returning as the game's voice recording director, and the voice audio for the game is over 70 hours long.
The game is the third phase of the 15th anniversary celebration of the Digimon franchise. Namco Bandai Games plans to release the game on January 17. The first copies will include a product code for a "Digivice Ver. Portable" download, and a serial code for obtaining a special combo card set for the social game Digimon Collectors on the GREE mobile platform.
New Video Group released the complete first season of the Digimon Adventure television anime series on DVD in North America on October 9.
Update: Namco Bandai Games removed the original video and replaced it on Thursday with a newer version.
