Neon Genesis Evangelion Water Coolers Revealed

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Cooler with 4 limited-edition design panels can also heat water for tea

Japanese water cooler manufacturer Aqua Clara revealed its Neon Genesis Evangelion-themed water coolers in a "Human Water Instrumentality Project" collaboration with the anime franchise on Monday. The water coolers in the "Dress-Up Server" model line are available with four different decorative Evangelion-themed panels: Rei, Pilot, EVA-01, and Nerv. Only 250 of each panel will be made.

The coolers are available now for rent with a monthly refill and maintenance fee of 1,575 yen (about US$20), while each Evangelion cooler panel costs 8,400 yen (US$105). Aqua Clara advertises this water cooler model as energy-saving, with electricity for powering the cooler costing 7,000 yen (US$88) at the most per year. The machine also has a RO filter and an anti-bacterial ultraviolet lamp for purification, a water-heating feature for tea, and a built-in digital clock. The machine stands at 966 millimeters (about 38 inches) tall or 1,242 millimeters (49 inches) with the water bottle.

The original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime aired in Japan from 1995 to 1996. The first of Khara's new four-part Evangelion film project, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone, opened in 2007, with Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance following in 2009. Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo will open in theaters in Japan on November 17.

Evangelion has just recently done another tie-in with JINS eyeglass-maker, and also with the JRA (The Japanese Racing Association). Funimation released the first two of the new Evangelion films in North America so far.
