The live-action television adaptation of Masami Hosokawa's Sugarless school fighting manga will star "EXILE Gundan" (EXILE Corps), four young male performers with ties with the dance/vocal group EXILE's LDH agency.
Aran Shirahama (2012 live-action GTO, dance/vocal group GENERATIONS' member) stars as protagonist Gaku Shiiba, Nobuyuki Suzuki (2012 live-action GTO, Gekidan EXILE member) plays Gaku's classmate Taiji "Marimo" Marumo, Keita Machida (2012 live-action GTO, Gekidan EXILE member) plays another classmate named Osamu Urabe, and Reo Sano (GENERATIONS member) makes his acting debut as the student Shirō Mukai.
The story follows high school freshman Gaku and his quest to rule his school through daily brawls with the other delinquents. Hosokawa launched the manga in 2010, and Akita Shoten will publish the 14th book volume next month. The live-action series will premiere this October on the station NTV.
