Metal Gear Solid Gets Social Game With Global Plans
posted on by Egan Loo
GREE founder Yoshikazu Tanaka announced at Konami's ”Metal Gear 25th Anniversary Party” event on Thursday that it will release a social game version of Metal Gear Solid. GREE will not only release the Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops game in Japan, but also throughout the world.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima explained that they did not want to just expand the franchise vertically, but also horizontally onto other platforms. In the new game, fans can experience the earlier stories of the Metal Gear franchise again, form the strongest possible unit for battles, and cooperate with friends. Thanks to the use of the Unity engine, the game will have 3D graphics on smartphones.
Gree and Konami are jointly developing the game for release sometime between fall and winter. The game will have a playable demo at Tokyo Game Show later this year.
