Next Limited Hatsune Miku Exclusive Is a Sony Walkman

To celebrate the fifth birthday of the virtual Vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku, Sony will sell three limited-edition Hatsune Miku 5th Anniversary models of its Walkman S series in Japan. The three models come in blue (NW-S764 L), black (NW-S764 B), or blue with external speakers (NW-S764 K/L).

All three are based on the mid-range S series model with noise-canceling and Bluetooth support. However, they have Miku etched on the back and emblazoned on the wallpaper screen. In addition, each one has Miku's "Hoshi no Kakera" song preinstalled as well as an original neck strap.

Sony will limit each model to only 3,939 serial-numbered units (a wordplay on one Japanese pronunciation of "39" as "miku.").

The Hatsune Miku Walkman units will go on sale exclusively in Sony's online shop and in three physical Sony stores in mid-August. They will retail for 12,800 yen (about US$164) without external speakers, or 15,800 yen (about US$202) with them.
