Cheeky Angel's Nishimori Makes Debut as Novelist

Shogakukan will publish a novel by manga artist Hiroyuki Nishimori (Cheeky Angel, Kyou Kara Ore Wa!!) on July 18 titled Manten no Hoshi to Aoi Sora. An image from the upcoming novel is pictured at right.
In the story, metal around the world has quickly corroded after a meteorite hit the Earth. Civilization is collapsing and the world is dissolving into chaos. The story will revolve around a group of high school students who have to walk back home to Tokyo from a field trip, as the meteorite hit during their outing and they have no other way to get back home. The theme of the novel is survival.
The 28th issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday is publishing an excerpt from the start of the novel on June 13.
Viz Media published Nishimori's Tenshi na Konamaiki manga under the name Cheeky Angel. Tenshi na Konamaiki received a television anime adaptation in 2002-2003, and Kyou Kara Ore Wa!! received an original video anime series in 1992.
